Lessons learned: Lawnch

People often accept that their situation in life is what it is. We go through life tolerating what’s in front of us just assuming that things are what they are. There are however those select few that buck the system and when they are experiencing something they don’t like they do something about it. Mike Lerner is one of those people and what he couldn’t accept was settling for a boring yard game. Heading out on a camping trip Lerner purchased a cornhole set and headed off for some outdoor fun. After a few rounds of throwing sacks, with the game playing out the same over and over, he tossed the board aside determined to come up with a better option. This moment was the birth of LAWNch, a yard game that brings the skill and strategy of multiple games together in one.

We can all take a lesson from what Lerner chose to do. Don’t settle for the mundane when doing so leaves you, and those around you, accepting the status quo. Not settling is where innovation and progress comes from.

Use those moments in life where you think something could be done better and go for it. What began as overcoming boredom has developed into a product Lerner is now sharing with the world.

This simple game comes with the simple lesson of don’t be afraid to LAWNch your own idea. You can check out the game at www.letsgolawnch.com and use his success as inspiration to go after whatever it is you think should be improved.
